My name is Kier Mizuik and I am the ceo for Atlantic Heat Pump Products.

I come from a family of business Owners and Operators including such businesses as Apartments, Motels, Restaurants, Laundry Centre, Commercial Glazers, Furniture Store, and Senior Care Home.

For myself, I have worked in various industries including as a General Manager for a Motel in New Brunswick.

While living in PEI, I worked for Marine Atlantic Inc. On the ice breaking ferry John Hamilton Grey ,for over six years. During that time, I worked towards earning a Marine Engineering ticket. When the ferries closed due to the Confederation Bridge opening. I moved back home to Miramichi with my fiancée.

Here I started a furniture store business with my Father who passed away shortly thereafter in 1995. I continued to run the store for three years.

Ever so much the entrepreneur, I have opened another business of my own that I am still operating today. My moving and equipment company has serviced over 5000 clients to date.

As well I have a passion for woodworking and furniture making and is an ongoing pleasure to work with my hands in that way.

I also worked at Home Hardware in Miramichi and was there for five years.

I have learned quite a bit from my experiences in so many different industries. I have thought quite a bit about the subject of home and business heating requirements. I'd like to share my two main concerns with you:

1) How can we save energy and money at the same time?

2) What would be an easy, safe and energy efficient method to heat, cool and control humidity in home as our population ages? How will people heat and cool their homes with our current issues with global warming? Fixed incomes, retirement incomes, not being able to support the high and somewhat roller coaster ride price increases of the big utilities.

We need new systems for heating and cooling our homes and businesses. Something that doesn't use conventional means. Something that doesn't require heavy lifting, or combustion of CO2 making fossil fuels. Something that uses Electricity from renewable sources, like wind Mill Farms, or Hydro Dams. To use less and get more heat, pollute less, save money, make new industries, new jobs. Heat Pumps and related technology definitely fits the bill.
